At the beginning of the Corona pandemic, the Federal Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut initiated the International Relief Fund for cultural organisations in response to the effects that the coronavirus pandemic had on cultural organisations abroad.
The relief fund was able to contribute to maintaining cultural partners’ structures and at the same time to strengthen social diversity and local cultural life in 2020. This year the overall funds were doubled to over 6 million EUR, with individual cultural organizations able to benefit from grants of up to 30.000 EUR for their projects and operations.
The Goethe-Institut is in charge of the coordination of the fund. Other members of the consortium in 2021 are the S. Fischer Foundation and the Robert Bosch Foundation.
Some of the prerequisites for a fundable organisation are:
- They contribute to safeguarding artistic freedom and pluralistic society
- They have been working successfully as an organisation for at least three years
- They are already known to the Goethe-Institute, the German Embassy/Consulate General, the S. Fischer Foundation or the Robert Bosch Foundation though previous collaboration
All the prerequisites and the application procedures can be found on the website of the relief fund.
Applications will be accepted until 7 May 2021.
